Investing in Onboarding

August 26, 2019 by

According to a 2018 survey by Jobvite, nearly one-third of all new recruits quit their jobs within the 90 days. A bad onboarding process can be costly, leading to poor performance and high turnover, and at best confusion on the part of the new recruit.

Perfectly imperfect

July 29, 2019 by

Working with leaders for so many years has afforded me the great privilege of getting a glimpse into the human psyche.  One powerful trend I often encounter is the perfectionistic mindset.  To strive for perfection is very compelling, almost intoxicating in our western world.

Conversations that Count

March 19, 2019 by

One of my favourite things  is working with leaders on having the Conversations that Count.  This is not just about constructive feedback but also about giving recognition.  Most leaders struggle with these conversations. Some may find it easier to give recognition but shy away from constructive feedback, others don’t like giving recognition but are comfortable […]

Coming Clean…

January 24, 2019 by

It is mid-January as I write this now and I woke up this morning to return to work with genuine fire in my belly. I noticed in my morning meditation that I actually feel lighter and more centred than I have in years….and of course it is a truly welcome, blissful feeling.  I was curious […]

Your heart’s racing your body sweating, muscles tense as they scream for a response. To fight or flee? You decide what to […]

Why being kind is taking off

September 28, 2016 by

Recently, I was running a team building session for one of our clients, and we did an exercise that may normally have resulted in a winner and a prize. I decided to do something different, and instead gave every participant a ‘prize’ but with one proviso – they needed to give it to someone […]

Closing the stress cycle

April 06, 2016 by

I had been eagerly awaiting my Easter break. Not because I wanted time away from work (I love my job!), or because the anticipation of what my husband had gotten me as an Easter treat was just too exciting (Cocobean chocolate), but because I was heading away bushwalking for three days. Although I love my […]
